Renowned as the pioneer sneaker to incorporate visible Nike air technology, the Air Max 1 was conceived by Tinker Hatfield, drawing inspiration from the transparent design at the George Pompidou Centre in Paris. The distinctive air bubble packaging pays homage to Hatfield's groundbreaking concept.
The left shoe bears Tinker Hatfield's bold autograph, commemorating the visionary behind the original Air Max, inspired by the vibrant and intricate architecture of the George Pompidou Centre. With only five pairs ever created, these exclusive shoes were never made available for public purchase.
As part of the Air Max Day festivities at the esteemed UNDEFEATED store in Los Angeles, California, these rare pairs were raffled off. The design stays true to the original color scheme, featuring a university red Swoosh, gray accents, and a university red overlay on a sail off-white upper.
The distinctive air bubble packaging proudly displays the Nike logo, along with the significant date "3.26.14 Air Max Day" at the top and the rallying call "Wear Your Air" at the bottom.
